Fricker, a native of Dublin, Ireland had the small role of the bird woman. One day, Kevin was walking through Central Park and came upon the bird woman. She frightened him so he ran away. One night, he ran away from Marv and Harry and saw the bird woman in Central Park again. He ran and his foot got stuck between two rocks. The bird woman came along and freed him and Kevin then realized she was not out to hurt him. They started to bond and decided to go spend time at Carnegie Hall. When Marv and Harry held Kevin at gunpoint, the bird woman was there to rescue him. At the end of the movie, Kevin gave the bird woman a turtle dove ornament that he got from Mr. Duncan and he told her that it was a symbol of friendship. Kevin hugged the bird woman. Fricker starred in the films, "A Time to Kill", "So I Married An Axe Murderer" and "Angels in the Outfield". In 1990, she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for the film, "My Left Foot: The Story of Christy Brown". Other Oscar nominees for Best Supporting Actress that year were Anjelica Huston for "Enemies: A Love Story", Lena Olin for "Enemies: A Love Story", Dianne West for "Parenthood" and Julia Roberts for "Steel Magnolias".
